What is Tutoring?

Tutoring is a support service provided free to GHC students to assist with learning. Tutoring is not a substitute for course instruction.

Who are Tutors?

Tutors are GHC students who have completed the classes they tutor and have been recommended by their instructors.

Tutors Will:

  • Help each student to the best of their ability

  • Assist students with learning strategies

  • Discuss effective study skills

  • Encourage independent learning

Tutors Will Not:

  • Do the work for students

  • Attempt to catch students up on material missed when not attending class

  • Tell students how to pass tests

  • Discuss the merits of instructors

  • Be responsible for students' grades

How Do I Get a Tutor?

Complete a "Request for Individual Tutoring" form, also available from the Learning Center Coordinator in Room 1516, to be assigned a tutor.

Tutors are also available for drop-in assistance in the Homework Lab (Room 1519).
